LOCATION: The insta-i_la-ttion is on the eastern edge of Yin-chuan, approx-
imately 21-5 nautical miles northeast of Lan-chou, in 11ingsia-
hul Jtitonrmoii s Region, China.
ktlNShAL: The insta_1lai.ion is an administration/billeting complex which
also contain.- a. vehicle storage/service and two support areas.
An a,d join i n area to the north contains light industry and
quarters.
With the r?xc.(jption of the development of the industrial area,
the insta is ,ien has been stable during the period covered by
this report. No weapons or military equipment has been observ-
ed at the irn',tal.lation.
Although. installation is walled, breaches have been repeat-
edly observed. In addition, track activity suggests a possible
relationship between the industrial area and the installation.
['his possible relationship and the overall lack of security
suggest toaU the installation may be non-military.
