This memorandum is in response to the above listed requirement requesting verification of the existance of three manufacturing plants, two storage areas, two military areas, and an oil refinery, all located in the USSR. 2. Photo was used in determining the existance of the three installations located at Samarkand, USSR.--The rail served superphosphate plant does exist 13 km west of Samarkand. The barracks area and reinforced concrete components plant were not observed and are believed not to exist. 3. Photo was used to determine that the oil refinery at Kermine, USSR does not exist. The probable engineer construction area at Kermine can neither be confirmed not denied from available photography. X1 }+. The superphosphate plant and the military area at Chardzhou, USSR do exist and appear to be active at the time of the photography. Photo as used for this protion of the analysis. 5. The rail-seared depot area near Kagan, USSR was not observed, but it can neither be confirmed nor denied from available photography. 25X1 6.
