1. This memcrendua is. in ansver to your requirement dated 5 December 1962,
requesting an area search of Ilgypt for a surface-to-surfaceaissile]auneh and
test area.
2. The search was conducted in the area indicated in your requirement and
a surface-to-surface missile test and launch area has been identified at coordinates
30.07N 30.378, ten nautical miles vest?southvest of the abandoned 25X1
the
airfield. It is situated at the terminus of an aU-weather road AmENUM M5
Cairo/Alexandria highway at the abandoned airfield.
The rangehead appears to be a permanent facility and contains a circular launch
pad 140 feet in diameter,?a drive.thrcugh or drive-by building 90 by 60 feet, two
checkout buildings 100 by 80 feet each a possible control bunker 100 by 50 feet
and an engine test stand located in a i50 by 125 foot earth out. (All measurements
are approximate.) Mw total area coverage of the facility is approximately ten
square miles.
