Analysis of a small-format aerial photograph taken
has resulted in the identification of a new airfield, under construction
(see Figure 1), located at 55-24-37N 37-54-OOE, 5 nautical miles south-
east of Domodedovo, USSR (see Figure 2). A recent Soviet publication
reported that this is a new civil field to service the Moscow area. The
runway is oriented northwest-southeast. It was not surfaced at the time
of the photography, but the presence of construction equipment indicates
that the surface will probably be concrete. Exact dimensions are pre-
cluded by the fact that only the southeast two thirds of the field is visible.
However, an estimate as to the probable location of the center point of
the runway suggests that its length will be approximately 15, 000 feet.
Airfield facilities appear to be under construction northeast of the run-
way, but no details are clearly discernible.
