REMARKS:
Five SAM support facilities under construction have been identified on
photography covering the Ural Mountains area, USSR. Facilities of
this type were first identified on E: I photography covering the Volga
River area, USSR. 1/ Each of the live facilities in the Ural Mountains area is
in about the same stage of construction and consists of roughed-in road netivorks
and building foundations. The locations of the facilities are as follows: Two nm
northwest of Verkh.-Neyvinsk at 57o17'N/60004'E (wit a:in the atomic energy in-
stallation), seven. nm west-northwest of Nizhnaya Tura at 558040'N/59038E

(within the atomic energy complex), three nm south of Nizhniy Tagil at

Each of the five support facilities is located within a SAM defended
area 2/ and near an antiaircraft garrison containing possible SAM trans-
porters. 3/ Since the support facilities are under construction, the nearby
garrisons are probably utilized for temporary SAM transporter storage.
