The Electrical Equipment Plant, VEF is located in the northeast section
of Riga, approximately one mile southwest of the Ciekurkalus railroad pass-
enger station and two and one-half miles northeast of the railroad bridge'
over the Dvina River.
This plant is one of the most important manufacturers of civilian and
military electrical communication equipment in the USSR. Reportedly it
produces radio receivers, loudspeakers, telephone sets, mine telephones,
telephone switchyards, airborne and ground military equipment and small elec-
trical parts.
A comparison of reveals that 25X1D
the plant has increased considerably in size. New production and storage
buildings totalling 162,1150 sq. ft. of floor space have been constructed

The present plant area consists of approximately 1,800,000 sq. ft., of
which 1188,475 sq. ft. is roof covered. Many of the buildings are multistoried,
making the estimated total floor space 1,022,150 sq, ft.
The following tabulation shows a breakdown of dimensions, roof cover
and floor space of each building. Buildings are identified on the accompanying
annotated photograph.
