The series is being coordinated, published and disseminated by NPIC. The photographic analysis is being performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group, the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division (NPIC), and the Production Center lPla (DIA). The photographic analysis for this particular re- port was performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group. In the interest of uniformity, the titles and letter designators for the facilities observed at these installations are identical with those appearing in the project requirement. When a specific facility is not observed both its title and letter designator are omitted in the report. Volnoye Army Barracks Samara River East, Volnoye Army Barracks Samara River North and Volnoye Training Area Samara River Bend were all formerly listed in ficers /dependents quarters, 9 storage buildings, 50 support buildings, 17 vehicle sheds, 2 athletic fields, 2 small-arms firing ranges, and 3 areas similar to subcaliber-weapons firing ranges. The barracks area was covered by C TALENT photography and by 11KEYHOLE mis- sions between Comparative analysis reveals no significant changes in the buildings; however, the 2 small- arms firing ranges and the 3 areas similar to subcaliber ranges were added between F the Bombing Encyclopedia as Volnoye Army Barracks and Maneuver Area Peschanka (BE Volnoye Army Barracks Samara River East is located 7 kilometers (km) south_southeast of Volnoye (Figures 2 and 3). This installation covers 560 acres and contains 3 administration buildings, 16 barracks, approximately 100 of- Road Service Probable all-weather secondary roads pro- vide access to this area from Volnoye and Novo- Moskovsk. Administration and Troop Housing Areas Area D1 contains approximately 100 of- ficers/dependents quarters (not shown in Fig- ure 3), and 5 support buildings. Area D2 contains 2 administration build- ings, 12 barracks, and 9 support buildings. Area D3 contains 1 administration building, 4 barracks, and 9 support buildings. General Storage Area Area E contains 9 storage buildings and 2 support buildings. Other Buildin-rs and Facilities Scattered throughout the installation are 15 support buildings. I This installation 25X1. was moderately active during the summer m nths; no activity was observed in the winter. Equipment Storage/Maintenance Area. Area J contains 17 vehicle sheds, each approximately 230 by 30 feet, and 10 support buildings. 25X1 25X1 D 25X1 25X1 D Athletic Fields Area K contains 2 athletic fields; both fields II 25X1' 25X1' 25X112 Small-Arms Firing Ranges Areas LI and L2 are small-arms firing ranges measuring 145 by 30 feet and 360 by 50 feet, respectively. Both of these an es were constructed between Unidentified Facilities or Track Activity Area T contains 3 unidentified rectangular facilities, measuring 325 by 260 feet, 325 by 160 feet, and 360 by 65 feet. These facilities are similar in construction to subcaliber-wea- pons firing ranges observed at Oster Army Barracks Vypolzovo, but the scale of the photog- raphy precludes positive identification.
