This report is one in a series on Soviet Ground Force and Logistic
installations being prepared for a DIA/CIA Panel. The series is being
coordinated, published and disseminated by NPIC. The photographic
analysis is being performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group,
the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division (NPIC), and the Production
Center iPla (DIA). The photographic analysis for this particular re-
port was performed by the Production Center iPla.
In the interest of uniformity, the titles and letter designators for
the facilities observed at these installations are identical with those
appearing in the project requirement. When a specific facility is not
observed both its title and letter designator are omitted in the report.
Titles and letter designators for the various facilities are as
follows: (A) railroad service, (13) road service, (C) landing strips,
(D) administrative and troop housing areas, (E) storage areas, (F) am-
munition storage areas, (G) POL storage areas, (11) other buildings and
facilities, (J) equipment storage/maintenance areas, (K) athletic fields,
(L) small arms firing ranges, (M) driver training areas, (N) tank/
assault gun firing ranges, (P) flat trajectory firing ranges, (Q) artillery
emplacements (batteries), (R) infantry or combined arms field train-
ing areas or courses, (S) special training facilities, (T) unidentified
facilities or tracking activity.

Kirovakan Army Barracks Southwest is in
Kirovakan, 18 kilometers (km) east of Amamlu
(Figure 1).
The barracks installation covers approxi-
mately 70 acres and contains 58 buildings:
3 administration buildings, 2 probable admini-
stration buildings, 11 barracks, 26 storage build-
ings, 11 vehicle/equipment storage buildings, 3
vehicle maintenance buildings, and 2 support
buildings (Figures 2 and 3).

tive analysis reveals no major change in the in-
stallation.
DESCRIPTION OF INSTALLATION
Railroad Service
An east-west rail line is approximately 800
meters north of the barracks installation.
Road Service
The installation is served by city streets.
Administration and Troop Housing Area
Area D contains 5 multistory barracks, 6
other barracks, and 3 administration buildings.
General Storage Area
Area E contains an L-shaped probable ad-
ministration building, 3 large storage build-
ings, and 18 small storage buildings.
POL Storage Areas
Several POL storage areas are located
in Kirovakan.
Equipment Storage/Maintenance Area
Area J contains 11 vehicl
age buildings (five 300 by 50 fe
by 30 feet, and one 330 by 30 feet), 3
vehicle maintenance buildings (two 250 by
feet, and one 200 by 50 feet), anL-shaped prob-
able administration building, 5 storage buildings,
and 2 support buildings.
