This report is one in a series on Soviet Ground Force and Logistic
installations being prepared for a DIA/CIA Panel. The series is being
coordinated, published and disseminated by NPIC. The photographic
analysis is being performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group,
the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division (NPIC), and the Production
Center iPla (DIA). The photographic analysis for this particular re-
port was performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group.
In the interest of uniformity, the titles and letter designators for
the facilities observed at these installations are identical with those
appearing in the project requirement. When a specific facility is not
observed both its title and letter designator are omitted in the report.
Titles and letter designators for the various facilities are as
follows: (A) railroad service, (B) road service, (C) landing strips,
(D) administrative and troop housing areas, (L') storage areas, (h) am-
munition storage areas, (G) JOB storage areas, (II) other buildings and
facilities, (J) equipment storage/maintenance areas, (K) athletic fields,
(L) small arms firing ranges, (M) driver training areas, (N) tank/
assault gun firing ranges, (P) flat trajectory firing ranges, (Q) artillery
emplacements (batteries), (B) infantry or combined arms field train-
ing area or courses, (S) special training facilities, (T) unidentified
facilities or tracking activity.

A training area is located 15 kilometers
southeast of Zaporozhye, on the southern side
of the Zaporozhye-Orekhov highway (Figure 1).
The installation covers approximately 3,100
acres and contains a bivouac area, a probable
administration building, 7 support buildings, 8
probable storage buildings, 3 tank/assault-gun
firing ranges, 7 range support buildings, and
personnel trenches (Figure 2).

Road Service
The installation is served by the all-
weather Zaporozhye-Orekhov highway.
Administration and Troop Housing Area
Area D is a bivouac area with a T-shaped
probable administration building and 4 sup-
port buildings.
General Storage Area
Area E contains 8 probable storage build-
ings.
POL Storage Area
POL storage facilities in the vicinity of
the training area include 22 medium POL
tanks at 47-54N 035-08E, 3 medium partially
buried POL tanks at 47-50N 035-12E, and 6
medium POL tanks at 47-48N 035-11E.
Other Buildings
Three support buildings (H) are northwest
of the bivouac area and the firing ranges.
Tank/Assault-Gun Firing Ranges
Area Ni is a 3,000-foot firing range with
3 possible fixed targets and 3 range support
buildings. Construction at a static firing
line is visible on coverage. 25X1 D
Area N2 is a 3, oot firing range with
5 possible fixed targets and 3 range support
buildings.
Area N3 is a 1,140-foot firing range with
3 moving-target runs and a range support buil:l-
ing. This range appears abandoned.
Infantry or Combined-Arms Field Training Area
Personnel trenches are visible throughout
Area R. Activity is undetermined.
