(IA_RnP7RTna7~9A001000010069-1 TOP SECRET Blagoveshchensk Barracks Mokhovaya Pad is located 12 kilometers north of Blagoveshch- ensk on the west side of the Blagoveshchensk- Belogorsk rail line (Figure 1). A large tracked- vehicle driver-training course is adjacent to the installation on the west. The installation has direct road access to the Mukhinka Training Area Zeya River West Blagoveshchensk Barracks Mokhovaya Pad covers approximately 1,800 acres and contains a total of 121-buildings: 3 administration build- ings, 22 barracks, 9 general storage buildings, 78 general support buildings, 6 possible depend- ents housing units, and 3 vehicle/equipment maintenance and storage buildings (Figures 2 and 3). This installation was covered on photography of and on interpretable photography fromi issions between Comparative analysis reveals that the training facilities have been expanded considerably since 1958. Basic changes include the construction of 2 small-arms firing ranges and a large tracked- vehicle driver- training course. The building count has remained approximately the same. The enlargement of the mechanized training facilities since 1958 may indicate a functional change in the installation from an infantry unit to a mechanized unit. Probable primary and secondary roads con- nect the installation to Blagoveshchensk. Area Dl contains 6 barracks and 2 support buildings. Area D2 contains 3 barracks and 6 support buildings. Area D3 contains 5 barracks and 15 support buildings. Area D4 contains 4 barracks and 7 support buildings. Area D5 contains 3 administration buildings, 4 barracks, and 13 support buildings. This area appears to be the administrative headquarters for the installation. General Storage Areas Area El contains a storage building secured by a single fence. TOP SECRET Area E2 contains a storage building secured by a single fence with probable guardposts. Other Buildings Area Hl contains 7 storage buildings and 5 support buildings. Area H2 contains 11 support buildings. This area appears to have a possible underground entrance. Area H3 contains 4 support buildings and 6 possible dependents housing units. Area H4 contains 2 support buildings. Area H5 contains 2 support buildings. These are probably control buildings for the driver- training course. Area H6 contains 3 support buildings. Equipment Storage/Maintenance Area Area J contains 3 vehicle maintenance build- ings, each measuring 150 by 35 feet, 8 support buildings, and a motor park, 900 by 600 feet. 25X1 Approved For ReleaSP200W&/OT Approved For Release 2004/12/01 : PI4 - 1000010069-1 TOP SECRET TO BELOGORSK MI 5X1 Approved For Release 2004/12/01 : CIA-RDP78TO4759AO01000010069-1 TOP SECRET Small-Arms Firing Ranges Area L1 is a possible small-arms range measuring 100 by 20 yards. Driver-Training Areas Area M1 is a closed-circuit tracked-vehicle driver-training course. This is probably the main driver-training course for tracked ve- hicles. Area M2 is a closed-circuit wheeled-ve- hicle driver-training course area associated with the tracked- vehicle driver -training course.
