This report is one in a series on Soviet Ground Force and Logistic
installations being prepared for a DIA/CIA Panel. The series is being
coordinated, published and disseminated by NPIC. The photographic
analysis is being performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group,
the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division (NPIC), and the Production
Center 1P la (DIA). The photographic analysis for this particular re-
port was performed by the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division.
In the interest of uniformity, the titles and letter designators for
the facilities observed at these installations are identical with those
appearing in the project requirement. When a specific facility is not
observed both its title and letter designator are omitted in the report.
Titles and letter designators for the various facilities are as
follows: (A) railroad service, (B) road service, (C) landing strips,
(D) administrative and troop housing areas, (E) storage areas, (F) am-
munition storage areas, (G) POL storage areas, (H) other buildings and
facilities, (J) equipment storage/maintenance areas, (K) athletic fields,
(L) small arms firing ranges, (M) driver training areas, (N) tank/
assault gun firing ranges, (P) flat trajectory firing ranges, (Q) artillery
emplacements (batteries), (R) infantry or combined arms field train-
ing areas or courses, (S) special training facilities, (T) unidentified
facilities or tracking activity.

A barracks area is located 10 kilometers
(km) northeast of Chirchik, immediately north of
the Chirchik-Iskander rail line (Figure 1).
The installation covers approximately 154
acres and contains 1 administration building, 5
barracks, 26 officers/dependents quarters, 10
storage buildings, 10 support buildings, 7 vehicle
sheds, 3 vehicle maintenance buildings, a vehicle
park, an open storage area, and an athletic field

Comparative analysis reveals the addition of 3
officers/dependents quarters and the removal of
2 vehicle sheds between
_ A high degree of activity was observed
on all coverage.
An all-weather road provides access to
Chirchik.
Administration and Troop Housing Areas
Area Dl contains 26 officers/dependents
quarters. Three of the quarters were added
5X1 D between
Area D2 contains 1 administration build-
ing, 5 barracks, 4 storage buildings, and 6 sup-
port buildings.
General Storage Areas
Area E1 is an open storage area. Material
was observed in this area in
Area E2 contains 4 storage buildings and 1
support building.
Equipment Storage/Maintenance Areas
Area J1 contains five 250- by 30-foot ve-
hicle sheds. Two vehicle sheds were removed
from this area between
Area J2 contains a 620- by 475-foot vehicle
park and 2 storage buildings. Forty-two cargo
trucks were observed in this area on -
coverage.
Area J3 contains 3 vehicle maintenance
buildings (two measuring 175 by 60 feet and one
measuring 160 by 55 feet), two 375- by 30-foot
vehicle sheds, and 3 support buildings. Fifteen
cargo trucks were observed in this area on -
coverage.
Athletic Field
Area K is an athletic field.
