This report is one in a series on Soviet Ground Force and Logistic
installations being prepared for a DIA/CIA Panel. The series is being
coordinated, published and disseminated by NPIC. The photographic
analysis is being performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group,
the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division (NPIC), and the Production
Center iPla (DIA). The photographic analysis for this particular re-
port was performed by the Production Center iPla.
In the interest of uniformity, the titles and letter designators for
the facilities observed at these installations are identical with those
appearing in the project requirement. When a specific facility is not
observed both its title and letter designator are omitted in the report.
Titles and letter designators for the various facilities are as
follows: (A) railroad service, (B) road service, (C) landing strips,
(D) administrative and troop housing areas, (E) storage areas, (F) am-
munition storage areas, (G) POL storage areas, (H) other buildings and
facilities, (J) equipment storage/maintenance areas, (K) athletic fields,
(L) small arms firing ranges, (M) driver training areas, (N) tank/
assault gun firing ranges, (P) flat trajectory firing ranges, (Q) artillery
emplacements (batteries), (R) infantry or combined arms field train-
ing areas or courses, (S) special training facilities, (T) unidentified
facilities or tracking activity.

Totskoye Army Barracks is approximately
2 kilometers (km) east-southeast of Totskoye,
5 km south-southwest of the Totskoye Army
25X1A Barracks Northwest and is
adjacent to the Totskoye- irsanov a Railroad
(Figure 1).
The installation covers 570 acres and has
a field training area, a small-arms firing range,
an equipment park, a probable exercise track,
and the following buildings: 6 barracks, 1 mess-
hall, 4 administration, 3 security, 16 storage,
1 maintenance, 23 quarters, 1 powerplant, and 57
miscellaneous support. A single water tower
serves the area (Figures 2 and 3).
_ KEYHOLE missions of fair-to-good 25X1 D
quality photography covered the area between
Vehicle/equip-
ment storage and maintenance facilities were
expanded slightly during this period. Num-
erous vehicles and pieces of equipment were
observed on
The installation is adjacent to the northern
edge of the Totskoye-Kirsanovka railroad.
The installation is served by the Totskoye-
Kirsanovka highway.
Aircraft Landing Strip
There is an abandoned landing strip approx-
imately 1.4 km south of the barracks area.
Administrative and Troop Housing Areas
Area D1 contains 6 barracks, 1 messhall,
1 administration building, 6 miscellaneous sup-
port buildings, and 3 buried cylinders.
Area D2 contains 23 quarters, 1 power
plant, and 15 miscellaneous buildings.
Area D3 contains 3 probable administra-
tion buildings, 3 probable security buildings,
and 15 miscellaneous support buildings. There
is a parking lot between the 2 administration
buildings.
Other Buildings
Area H contains 1 water tower.
Equipment Storage/ Maintenance Areas
Area J1 is fenced and contains 5 probable
vehicle storage buildings (200 by 50 feet, 150
by 45 feet, 110 by 60 feet, 90 by 50 feet, and
75 by 50 feet), an 80- by 60-foot possible
vehicle maintenance building, and 5 mis-
cellaneous support buildings. Vehicles or
pieces of equipment are parked outside summer
and winter. There are 5 possible POL drums
in the southeast corner.
Area J2 is doubly fenced and contains 8
vehicle/equipment storage buildings (one 275

by 60 feet and seven 110 by 45 feet), and 9
support buildings. Equipment was parked out- 25X1 D
side in
Area J3 contains 3 vehicle/equipment stor-
age buildings (350 by 60 feet, 300 by 45 feet, and
200 by 60 feet) and 3 support buildings.
Area J4 is an open equipment park cov-
ering 10 acres. Nine rows of vehicles and

of snow cover on vehicles/pieces of equip-
ment indicate the equipment was moved from
storage buildings in area J3 on or slightly
before that date.
Athletic Field
Area K contains a possible exercise track.
