The series is being coordinated, published and disseminated by NP IC. The photographic analysis is being performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group, the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division (NPIC), and the Production Center 1Pla (DIA). The photographic analysis for this particular re- port was performed by the Production Center 1Pla. In the interest of uniformity, the titles and letter designators for the facilities observed at these installations are identical with those appearing in the project requirement. When a specific facility is not observed both its title and letter designator are omitted in the report. The training area is also approxi- mately 32 km southeast of Krasnodar and prob- ably serves as a field training area for units 25X1 D in that sector. The training area covers ap- 25X1 D 25X1 D proximately 48 sq km and consists of a tent cantonment area, a tank firing range and sup- port area, a driver-training course, and various other ranges and maneuver areas (Figure 2). (The exact limits of the training area, particu- larily in the west, are poorly defined.) 25X1 D KEYHOLE missions from ere reviewed. Com- TCS-80778/65 parative analysis shows a marked decrease in activity during the winter months. - a period of snow cover, the only track activity discernible was in the tank firing range. The cantonment area appeared to be completely unused. the activity level was very high. In from 40 to 50 unidentified vehicles were discernible in Area J2 and tents were discernible in Areas Dl and D2, although a large portion of those 2 areas is obscured by trees. Except for seasonal changes in activity, the training area has remained relatively un- change A first class, all-weather road extends along the entire eastern edge of the training area. Secondary roads connect the training area facilities with the main road and numerous trails and vehicle tracks are visible within the training area. The main road continues north to Krasnodar. Administrative and Troop Housing Areas Area Dl contains 4 multistory barracks, 1 T-shaped multistory administration building, 1 general storage building, approximately 100 tent bases, and 5 support buildings. Area D2 contains 1 T-shaped administration building, approximately 600 tent bases (exact count is not possible because of trees in the area), and 25 support buildings. POL Storage Area The training area is adjacent to an extensive oil field. Numerous POL storage tanks are in the vicinity. Equipment Storage/Maintenance Areas Area J1 contains a vehicle maintenance area 400 by 300 feet, 1 vehicle storage building 200 by 50 feet, and 2 vehicle maintenance buildings 25 by 50 feet. The area provides direct support for the tank firing range. Area J2 is a vehicle park 6,000 by 300 feet. This area is used as a vehicle park only. No maintenance facilities are evident. Athletic Fields Areas K1 and K2 are athletic fields with oval exercise tracks. Small-Arms Firing Range Area L is a possible small-arms firing range measuring 600 by 400 feet. Driver-Training Area Area M is a large, irregular-shaped closed- loop driver-training course. The firi ng lanes are not clearly defined. The left edge of the range is probably used for stationary direct fire. Flat Trajectory Firing Ranges Area P1 is approximately 6,000 feet lon g. Track activity in this area is very faint althou gh a firing line and range control facilities a re he clearly evident. No targets are apparent. T exact nature of the firing is undetermine d. Area P2 is approximately 1,300 feet lon g? Area Q2 is an impact area approximately 9,000 yards northwest of Area Infantry Field Training Area Area R is not clearly defined, but the tracks, foot trails, and scarring indicate an infantry maneuver area. Unidentified Facilities or Tracking Activity Area Ti contains a loop road and a clearing--indicating some type of military activity. Area T2 contains a loop road and a clearing- -indicating some type of military activity.
