This report is one in a series on Soviet Ground Force and Logistic
installations being prepared for a DIA/CIA Panel. The series is being
coordinated, published and disseminated by NPIC. The photographic
analysis is being performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group,
the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division (NPIC), and the Production
Center iPla (DIA). The photographic analysis for this particular re-
port was performed b;,, the Production Center 1Pla.
In the interest of uniformity, the titles and letter designators for
the facilities observed at these installations are identical with those
appearing in the project requirement. When a specific facility is not
observed both its title and letter designator are omitted in the report.
Titles and letter designators for the various facilities are as
follows: (A) railroad service, (B) road service, (C) landing strips,
(D) administrative and troop housing areas, (E) storage areas, (F) am-
munition storage areas, (G) POL storage areas, (II) other buildings and
facilities, (J) equipment storage/maintenance areas, (K) athletic fields,
(L) small arms firing ranges, (M) driver training areas, (N) tank/
assault gun firing ranges, (P) flat trajectory firing ranges, (Q) artillery
emplacements (batteries), (R) infantry or combined arms field train-
ing areas or courses, (S) special training facilities, (T) unidentified
facilities or tracking activity.

An ordnance depot covering approximately
160 acres is located in the eastern part of
Tbilisi, immediately east of the rail line (Figure
1.). The area is secured and contains the Tbilisi
Ordnance and Machine Plant Ordzhonikid-
ze
and 'Tbilisi Munitions
Storage (I I
The depot contains a billeting section with
9 multistory barracks and an administration
building, a machine plant with 15 buildings, an
ammunition storage area with 6 warehouses and
2 support structures, and a large vehicle and
equipment storage and maintenance area with
82 buildings. Approximately 520 vehicles or
pieces of equipment were observed in
(Figures 2 and 3).

storage buildings.
Area J also has the following motor vehicle
and equipment storage/maintenance buildings:

40-foot wings), 2 C-shaped
with two 70- by 40-foot wings), 1 L-shaped
(110 by 30 feet with a 75- by 30-foot wing) and
eighteen 105 by 40 feet, four 110 by 50 feet, two

feet, six 115 by 40 feet, one
five 95 by 40 feet, two 165 by 35 feet, one 120
by 30 feet, one 155 by 30 feet, two 125 by 30
