This report is one in a series on Soviet Ground Force and Logistic
installations being prepared for a DIA/CIA Panel. The series is being
coordinated, published and disseminated by NPIC. The photographic
analysis is being performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group,
the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division (NPIC), and the Production
Center 1Pla (DIA). The photographic analysis for this particular re-
port was performed by the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division
In the interest of uniformity, the titles anti letter designators for
the facilities observed at these installations are identical with those
appearing in the project requirement. When a specific facility is not
observed both its title and letter designator are omitted in the report.
Titles and letter designators for the various facilities are as
follows: (A) railroad service, (B) road service, (C) landing strips,
(D) administrative and troop housing areas, (E) storage areas, (F) am-
munition storage areas, (G) POL storage areas, (H) other buildings and
facilities, (J) equipment storage/maintenance areas, (K) athletic fields,
(L) small arms firing ranges, (M) driver training areas, (N) tank/
assault gun firing ranges, (P) flat trajectory firing ranges, (Q) artillery
emplacements (batteries), (R) infantry or combined arms field train-
ing areas or courses, (S) special training facilities, (T) unidentified
facilities or tracking activity.

Aniva Army Barracks Railroad Station
Northwest is located in the southwest corner of
Aniva (Figure 1). This installation possibly
utilizes the training facilities at Aniva Army
Barracks Petropavlovskoye (46-47N 142-30E)
and a training area located at 46-56N 142-38E.
The installation covers approximately 195
acres and contains 4 administration buildings, an
administration-type building, 6 barracks, 11
urge quarters-type housing units, 15 storage
buildings, 4 possibly military-associated, ex-
plosives storage buildings, 6 probable vehicle
sheds, and 41 support buildings. The installation
also contains 2 possible open storage areas, a
small-arms firing range, and an athletic/parade
field (Figures 2 and 3).

Railroad Service
A single-track rail line connects with the

Administration and Troop Housing Area
Area D contains 4 administration build-
ings, 6 barracks, 11 large quarters-type hous-
ing units, and 12 support buildings.
General Storage Areas
Area El is secured and contains 4 storage
buildings and a support building.
Area E2 contains 10 storage buildings and 5
support buildings.
Ammunition Storage Areas
Area F is surrounded by a firebreak, con-
tains 4 possibly military-associated explosives
storage buildings, a support building, and 2
possibly secured open storage areas.
Other Buildings
Nine support buildings are dispersed
throughout the installation.
Equipment Storage Maintenance Area
Area J contains 6 probable vehicle sheds
(one 40 by 320 feet, one 60 by 310 feet, one
40 by 310 feet, two 70 by 230 feet, and one
35 by 170 feet) and 2 support buildings.
Athletic Field
Area K is a athletic/parade field.
Small-Arms Firing Ranges
Area L is an approximately 600- by 70-foot
small arms firing range.
Unidentified Facilities or Tracking Activity
Area T is a secured area containing an
administration-type building, a storage building,
and 11 support buildings.
