This report is one in a series on Soviet Ground Force and Logistic
installations being prepared for a DIA/CIA Panel. The series is being
coordinated, published and disseminated by NPIC. The photographic
analysis is being performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group,
the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division (NPIC), and the Production
Center 1Pla (DIA). The photographic analysis for this particular re-
port was performed by the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division..
In the interest of uniformity, the titles and letter designators for
the facilities observed at these installations are identical with those
appearing in the project requirement. When a specific facility is not
observed both its title and letter designator are omitted in the report.
Titles and letter designators for the various facilities are as
follows: (A) railroad service, (B) road service, (C) landing strips,
(D) administrative and troop housing areas, (E) storage areas, (F) am-
munition storage areas, (G) POL storage areas, (H) other buildings and
facilities, (J) equipment storage /maintenance areas, (K) athletic fields,
(L) small arms firing ranges, (M) driver training areas, (N) tank/
assault gun firing ranges, (P) flat trajectory firing ranges, (Q) artillery
emplacements (batteries), (R) infantry or combined arms field train-
ing areas or courses, (S) special training facilities, (T) unidentified
facilities or tracking activity.

Buyanki Ammunition Depot Railroad Station
is located approximately 35 kilometers (km)
west of Arsenyev on the north side of the
Manzovka-Arsenyev rail line (Figure 1).
Other military installations in the vicinity
include Buyanki Chemical Service Depot (BE
ocated 3.5 km southeast and
Rettikhovka Ordnance Depot
which is located 9 km southwest.
This installation is double secured, covers
approximately 405 acres, and consists of a
storage area surrounded by a firebreak and a
support area located .5 km south. The storage
area includes 12 revetted storage buildings, 10
small revetted buildings, 3 bunkers, and 7 sup-
port buildings. The support area contains an
administration building, 3 barracks, 17 support
buildings, a guard house, a guard post, and a
motor pool containing 2 vehicle maintenance
buildings and a support building (Figures 2 and 3).
The area was coveredb KEYHOLEmis-
sions between Com-
parative analysis revealed a general level of
light track activity with the exception of -
-when photography revealed moderate
to heavy track activity in the depot support area.
One support building was added to the storage
area at the end of - No other significant
changes have been noted since -
Railroad Service
A single spur from the Manzovka-Arsenyev
main rail line provides rail services from a rail-
to-road transfer point located approximately 400
meters southeast of the storage area.
Road Service
The area has a probable all-weather
secondary road with access to Arsenyev.
Administration and Troop Housing Area
Area D contains an administration build-
ing, 3 barracks, 17 support buildings, a guard
house, and a guard post.
Ammunition Storage Area
Area F contains 12 revetted storage build-
ings, 10 small revetted buildings, 3 bunkers,
and 7 support buildings. One support building
was added after-
Equipment Storage/Maintenance Area
Area J contains 2 vehicle maintenance build-
ings (one 45 by 95 feet and one 45 by 80 feet),
a 145- by 45-foot motor park and a support
building.
