This report is one in a series on Soviet Ground Force and Logistic
installations being prepared for a DIA/CIA Panel. The series is being
coordinated, published and disseminated by NPIC. The photographic
analysis is being performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group,
the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division (NPIC), and the Production
Center 1Pla (DIA). The photographic analysis for this particular re-
port was performed by the Production Center 1Pla.
In the interest of uniformity, the titles and letter designators for
the facilities observed at these installations are identical with those
appearing in the project requirement. When a specific facility is not
observed both its title and letter designator are omitted in the report.
Titles and letter designators for the various facilities are as
follows: (A) railroad service, (B) road service, (C) landing strips,
(D) administrative and troop housing areas, (E) storage areas, (F) am-
munition storage areas, (G) POL storage areas, (II) other buildings and
facilities, (J) equipment storage/maintenance areas, (K) athletic fields,
(L) small arms firing ranges, (M) driver training areas, (N) tank/
assault gun firing ranges, (P) flat trajectory firingranges, (Q) artillery
emplacements (batteries), (R) infantry or combined arms field train-
ing areas or courses, (S) special training facilities, (T) unidentified
facilities or tracking activity.

Baku Army Barracks Bukhta Ilvicho is lo-
cated 9 kilometers (km) southwest of the center
of Baku (Figure 1) and 2.5 km west-northwest
of the center of Bukhta Ilvicho between Baku
SAM Site A22-2 ) and Baku
Comparative analysis reveals
continuous activity. The =photography in-
dicated the installation supported several AAA
training sites in the immediate vicinity. How-
ever, =photography disclosed the abandon-
ment of several AAA sites and the completion
of a SAM site, a SAM support facility, 6 multi-
story barracks, several quarters, and an uni-
dentified building. The completion of 5 addi-

The installation covers approximately 200
acres which are relatively barren and contains
4 administration buildings, 51 multistory bar-
racks, 1 vehicle maintenance building, 1 ve-
hicle storage building, 1 warehouse, 63 support
buildings,, 154 quarters-type buildings, and 1
unidentified building (Figures 2 and 3).
The area is covered on 0' VALENT and
tional multistory barracks is noted on
photography and 2 additional multistory bar-
racks appear on []photography.
The Baladzhary-Lokbatan rail line with a
rail siding is located 2 km west of the barracks
area.
Road Service
All-weather roads extending southwest from
13aku serve the area.
Administration and Troop Housing Areas
Area D1 contains 3 administration buildings
(1 C-shaped, 1 F-shaped, and 1 T-shaped), and
22 support buildings.
Area D2 contains 51 multistory barracks
(4 L-shaped), 23 support buildings, and 1 uni-
dentified building. Two buildings are fenced and
apparently connected by a covered passageway.
Area D3 contains 71 quarters-type build-
ings.
Area D4 contains 83 quarters-type build-
ings and 5 support buildings.
Other Buildings
Area H is fenced and contains 1 administra-
tion building and 11 support buildings.
Equipment Storage/Maintenance Area
(vehicle
maintenance building, one 290- by 60-foot vehicle
storage building, 1 storage building, 2 support
buildings, and 1 probable water tank.
