A test range, possibly for tactical missiles, with an associated rocket
motor test facility is located approximately 5 nm southeast of Pavlograd.
The range proper consists of a cleared strip of land extending southward
for 16 nm from a rangehead operations area. Other facilities at the range
consist of 2 separately secured areas located on the northwest side of -the
range. The northern secured area is directly connected by rail to the
rangehead operations area. It contains 9 buildings with possible inter-
connecting steamlines and an elaborate interior rail net.
The second secured area is located approximately 2 nm south and
contains a drive-in revetment with a possible buried observation building
immediately to the north. A small unidentified object has been observed
against the north wall of the revetment with dark possible burn marks just
south of the object. Faint light-toned possible burn scars were observed
extending away from dark marks toward the south end of the revetment. It
is believed that the drive-in revetment is used for horizontal test firing
of small rocket motors and that the motors are stored and processed in the
secured area to the north prior to test firing.
The previously reported weapons test cell is still visible. The
rangehead operations area and -the length of the range are similar to the
test range at Nizhniy Tagil ( however, the Pavlograd 25X1A
range does not appear to have - e amount of downrange instrumentation
seen at Nizhniy Tagil.
