Mukhinka Training Area Zeya River West
is located 30 kilometers (km) north of Blagove-
shchensk and 1 km west of Mukhinka (Figure 1).
The installation covers approximately 6,000
acres and contains I administration building,
2 probable barracks, 48 support buildings, 3
vehicle parks, and a large bivouac area. Train-
ing facilities consist of 2 tank/assault-gun
firing ranges, 1 flat-trajectory range, 3 special
training facilities, 2 unidentified facilities, and
an athletic field (Figures 2 and 3).
Comparative analysis indicates
that the entire installation and training facilities
have undergone considerable change since initial
coverage. These changes include the renova-
tion of old ranges, development of new modern
ranges, and a considerable reduction in the
building count in the administration area.
appears to be a tank/assault-gun firing range
but its exact function is undetermined.
Primary and secondary roads connect the
installation with Blagoveshchensk.
Area D appears to be the administrative
center for the range complex. It contains 1
administration building, 2 probable barracks,
2 support buildings, and a large bivouac area.
Equipment Storage/Maintenance Areas
Area J1 is an 840- by 225-foot vehicle park.
Area J2 is a 300- by 90-foot vehicle park.
Area J3 is a 990- by 135-foot vehicle park.
Area K is an athletic field which appears
to have an oval exercise track with a probable
soccer field in the center area.
Area N1 contains a 3,750-foot tank/assault-
gun firing range with eight 2,250-foot lanes
and 10 targets and 11 support buildings. Recent
photography indicates the range is very active.
Area N2 contains 1 lane and 3 -targets. It
Flat-Trajectory Firing Range
Area P is a 2,100- by 525-foot probable
fixed-target flat-trajectory firing range with
11 targets and 5 support buildings which probably
serve for range control.
Area S1, a probable driver and infantry
training course, contains extensive track/
wheeled-vehicle scarring and numerous prob-
able mortar positions and is located in rough
terrain southwest of the administrative area.
Area S2 contains an APC range with 8
target runs and 28 range support buildings.
The eastern section of the range is possibly
used for small-arms firing.
Area S3 is a probable APC range with
stationary targets.
