The Tdizhniy ~l'agil AT~'!M/SAM Launch Complex, located 30 nautical miles
f Nizhniy Tagil, USSR, was identified in (P-1is.:~ion 25X1D
The complex was 110t present in In 25X1D
a road had been cons ruc ed into the complex,
and several buildings in the support area were present.
In its present stake of development the complex consists of 3 launch
sites and an electronics site under construction, and a support area.
At this time the configuration of the complex resembles that of ;is,ry-
Shagan APB""~/SATE! LaunchComplex 1. However, a road through the woods Sd of
Launch Site C appears to be a mirror-iraa~;e of the pattern JL of Launch
Site C which encloses Launch Sites A and I3. `i'bis symmetry may indicate
that 2 additional launch sites may be constructed, possibly producing
the 5-site configuration seen at 7:'allinn and Cherepovets AT~1T~I/SA~~i Launch
Complexes.
Launch cites T3 and C appear to be in a more advanced stage of con-
struction than Launch-Site A. At Launch Site C, there are 3 clearings to
the-right of each of the site service roads. At r.~aunch Site I3, the 2
clearings are visible on the right site service road only.
The electronics site, located approximately 5,080 feet SST; of Launch
cite T3, .consists only of clearings in the woods at this tune. There may
be a portion of a security fence along the western and southern edges of
the area.
The support area, located r~TT~rT of Launch Site C, consists of approxi-
mately 15 buildings.
~ This complex was originally designated as the Tdizhnyaya Salda
ANIM/SAM Launch Complex in the Mission OAi{, fart II, but 25X1D
is redesignated as the Tdizhniy ~i'agil Ai~~Ti~I SAM Launch Complex.
