"PI NOTES" HIGHLIGHTS SIGNIFICANT INTELLIGENCE ITEMS DERIVED

A com jarison of photographic coverage acquired by Mission
with previous coverage acquired during~revea s no
visa a disruptions to the level of industrial activity in the following Chinese
urban areas: Fu-chou, Hsia-men, and Naga-chiang. Six other Chinese
urban areas (Shanghai, Cheng-tu, Ha-erh-pin, Pei-ping, Lan-chou, and
Hsi-.an) were studied on all available imagery which gave evidence of

additional coverage of the wever, a scan of all
Chinese industry covered on that mission failed to reveal any industrial
cut-back.
No significant disruption has been noted in those rail yards
observed. Comparative analysis is currently being conducted in order 25X1 D
to statistically evaluate trends in traffic density.
Continued analysis of the effect of the "Cultural Revolution" on
economic activity will be accomplished as material becomes available.
