The ground photography used in this report was PROBABLE LONG RANGE SAM MISSILE TRANSPORTER, USSR 25X1 25X1 25X1 25X1 25X1 0 The 2 pieces of equipment were observed in the Krasnaya Presnya railyard in Moskva, was not shown in the May Day Parade of 1966. At the time of the initial sighting ved For Release ~p /Q I -RDP7 T04759AO064000 0018-8 the 2 pieces of equipment as trans- porter trailers (probable missile) pulled by 2 ZIL-157 tractor-trucks. 1/ The equipment photographed in the railyard consists of a ZIL-157V truck-tractor, which is utilized with the SA-1 and SA-2 systems, and a stepdown semitrailer with single-wheel tandem axles. The use of a tandem axle semitrailer is indicative of a heavier load than that of the single-axled SA-1 and SA-2 missile trans- porters. The semitrailer has an overall length of eet high to the top of the canvas-covered trailer load. The over- of the truck-tractor and semitrailer Subsequent overhead photographic coverage of the PLRS complexes at Tallinn and Liepaja in Figures 3 and 4) revealed missile transporters. The trans- porters at Tallinn had a series of highlights perpendicular to the long axis of the semitrailer which are probably tubular framework used to support the canvas cover. The highlight effect seen at Tallinn might have been caused by canvas gathered on the tubular supports. The tubular- type of canvas support has been seen associated with the SA-2 missile transporter. The equipment at Tallinn and Liepaja also consists of a ZIL-157 truck-tractor and a semitrailer, having an overall length of 50 feet and a It could not be determined from the overhead photography whether the trailer had single-wheeled tandem axles, but it did appear to be of stepdown con- figuration. Based on the similarities in con- figuration, equipment, and mensural data, the equipment I is most likely the missile transporter forthe PLRS sys- tem. Figure 5 provides a schematic diagram of the truck-tractor and semitrailer, with mensu- ral data obtained from the ground photography.
