MODIFIED FAN SONG RADARS AT SHAN-TAN, SAN-YUAN, AND WU-SHA-TA-LA SAM SITES, CHINA
This report is in response to NSA require-
ment NSA/SOC/R132-67, which requests men-
suration and identification of the modified FAN
SONG radars, at Shan-tan, San-yuan, and Wu-
sha-ta-la SAM Sites, China (Figures 1, 3, 4,
and 5). The identification of any other types of
radars or communications associated with any
of the above SAM sites was also requested.
The modified FAN SONG radar at the SAM
Jammu)
and
Kashmir
sites appears to be the FAN SONG B with a
5-foot diameter dish antenna mounted on top of
the horizontal trough. This is similar to the
Type A except that the dish is more nearly cen--
tcred (Figures 2 and 3).
A search of the immediate vicinity of the 3
SAM sites did not reveal any other radars or
communications equipment; however, this does
not preclude the possible presence of these com-
ponents.
