USAF Jet Navigation Chart, 6th ed, Sep 66, Sheet JN-10N, Scale 1:2,000,000 (UNCLASSIFIED) 25X1 25X1 ABSTRACT A 265-nautical mile north-south microwave relay link between Arkhangelsk and Lipin Bor, USSR, has been identified IThere are 13 microwave facilities in this link. INTRODUCTION A newly constructed microwave link between Arkhangelsk and Lipin Bor has been observed. It was expected that this new link would follow the Arkhangelsk-Vologda rail line; however, midway between these cities, the route veers southwest toward Chere- povets. A direct connection to Cherepovets cannot now be determined because two relay facilities necessary for the completed link cannot be identified on available photography. The thirteen microwave facilities are depicted on Figure 1. The photograph of Facility 10, included on Figure 1 is representative of all 13 facilities. With the exception of Fa- cilities 4 and 10, all microwave facilities were identified on photography. The rail line between Konosha and Kotlas was searched for another microwave link. The poor interpretability of available photography precludes identification of any microwave fa- cilities on this route. BASIC DESCRIPTION* 1.
