A study of available pnotoc-aphy indicates that Chinese capacity

to produce cement remained relatively stable during the
cement plants identified in C'nirj, 37 are complete a?d operational. The
only expansion noted during the /ear was the additio of one kiln to the
kuo-kuo Plant. the operatioral Dlants contain at lest 86 and probably
25X1 D 92 rotary kilns. During =15 -otary kilns were _bserved in operation
at 32 of the plants. No kilns are seen in operation at three of the
other completed plants, and ire remaining Iwo were n.t seen on photography
r.uring the year.
