A high-frequency communications facility is newly identified
in Algeria, 2.2 nautical miles (nm) west of Rerhaia and 16 nm east
of Algiers (Figure 1). This is the first identification on KEYHOLE
photography of probable FISHBONE antennas in Algeria.
Rerhaia high-frequency communications facility is in a secured
area adjacent to Rerhaia Airfield. On the most recent KEYHOLE pho-
tography, the facility consisted of at least 12 probable FISHBONE
antennas, a control building, and several support buildings.
The facility was present on the first KEYHOLE coverage of the
area, and has been observed on two
subsequent missions. Identification was accomplished through de-
tailed search and analysis of small scale stereoscopic photography
at which time construction was probably continuing.
