Center (NPIC) during October 1969. This publication is compiled
and published by EPIC for the use of properly cleared components
of the USIB and includes reports received from various components
of the US Army, the US Navy, the US Air Force, the CIA, the DIA,
The column headings and symbols used in these lists are ex-
plained below.
SUBJECT
Entries in this column include the city or location covered
by the report, followed by the type of installation and subject.
Standard abbreviations are used.
ORIGINATOR (ORIG)
The originating component is indicated in this column by
means of standard abbreviations.

The appendix to this publication is composed of abstracts
of Basic Imagery Interpretation Reports, Basic Imagery Interpre-
tation Briefs, and other selected imagery interpretation reports
as written by the originating organization.
The Basic Imagery Interpretation Report (BIIR) is a third
phase imagery exploitation report prepared in response to a
COMTREX-approved Exploitation Requirement. It presents a thor-
ough analysis of all applicable imagery. Generally, this type
of report includes a functional analysis of all facilities of
the site and their mensuration, a photograph and a detailed

drawing of the area, a chronology, and an imagery reference list.
The Basic Imagery Interpretation Brief (BIIB) is a third
phase imagery exploitation report prepared in response to an ap-
proved Basic Exploitation Requirement. It presents the results
of a thorough analysis of all imagery pertinent to the require-
ment. This type of report may also include a photograph, a
detailed drawing of the area, and an imagery reference list.
The abstracts are arranged in accession number order and also
show the report number, subject, and Basic Encyclopedia or Object
Number as shown on the data block of the document.
