This camp covers a very large area that ex- tends from El Calvario (UTM coordinates LR 636504, AMS Series E723, Sheet 3785 III) to the Guanabacoa Aqueduct, Havana City. Twenty- five warehouses, seventy meters long and six- teen meters wide have been constructed as part of a large construction project in this new Camp. The warehouses are constructed of concrete floors and walls and corrugated fibrous concrete roofs. Sixty such warehouses are to be built in this area. The area around and between all the warehouses is to be paved. A circular shaped building with a circular entrance has been con- structed for use as an office building. One hundred and fifty Russian troops are located at this camp, which covers an area of sixty-six acres and was constructed in January 1963. Several different types of radar have been observed within the camp. In the center of the camp is a large radar unit about the size of a small truck. The unit is irregular in shape and is completely covered by canvas. A dish-like object projects from one side of the unit. When a small airplane passed overhead, the whole apparatus began to rotate. Other unidentified radar screens, which are located near the above described unit, pro- trude from large holes in the ground, which contain the radar electronic systems. The holes are covered by camouflage nets for which stairways have been constructed as entrances. There are many tunnels in the area." no military camp at UTM coordinates 715429. Source is probably referring to Managua SAM Site located at UTM coordinates 704435. The irregularly shaped radar is probably the. Fan Song radar set located within the guidance area.
