Two possible MAYAKOVSKIY Class Fish Factory ships (LOA approx 275'). 2. Probable "W/R" Class SS (LOA approx 240'). 3. POLTAVA/PEREKOP Class cargo ship (LOA approx 500'). 4. UGRA Class AS (LOA approx 480'). Lack of athwartships mounts forward and rounded bow - instead of blunt ramshorn bow - distinguish this ship from the DON Class AS. 5. LAMA Class AEM (LOA approx 370'). Position of high mast, superstructure shadow silhouette and forward well deck provide most prominent recognition features. 6. Probable DNEPR Class AR (LOA approx 375'). A large bow lift extension is visible and the stack placement is similar to this class. No forward mast or raised-one foredeck is visible on this ship. 7. UGRA Class AS (LOA approx 480'). Athwartships gun mounts aft, the position of the probable stack, and general topside and hull configuration contri- bute to this identification. 8. Probable UGRA Class AS under construction (LOA approx 475'). The bridge and fantail configuration are similar to annotation 7 above. 9. Probable POLTAVA/PEREKOP Class cargo ship under construction. (LOA approx 480'). Bow section is not yet completed. 10. Possible MAYAKOVSKIY Class Fish Factory in floating dock (LOA approx 275'). 11. Probable DNEPR Class AR under construction bow first toward launch end of building way. Large probable bow lift extension, position of forward edge of bridge, and superstructure configuration provide principal recognition features on which to base this qualified identification. Visible LOA (before bow is obscured by stern overhang of vessel #13) is approximately 365 feet. Approved For Release 25 25 25 X1 Appi-ov I TOP SECT T SHIPYARD : NOSENKO SHIPYARD 444 LOCATION : NIKOLAYEV, USSR GEO COORDS: 46-57N 031-59 KEY TO ANNOTATIONS (CONTINUED) 12. Possible LAMA Class under construction stern first toward launch end of building way. Position of leading edge of main superstructure from stern and location of after edge of probable forward well deck contribute to this evaluation. Visible LOA (before bow is obscured by stern over- hang of vessel #13) is approximately 340 feet. 13. Large unidentified ship with uniquely configured, long tapered hull design (LOA approx 635'; maximum beam approx 110'). Construction of a possible superstructure is beginning just forward of amidships. Although no identification can yet be made as to the function of this ship the general hull configuration a ears to bear some resemblance to the X1 which is classed as a cruiser helicopter carrier. Based upon the few details visible on this incompleted ship it would appear that she will differ from the X1 0 in the following particulars: (1) she is some 45 feet longer and approximately 30 feet wider in the beam; (2) she does not have a stepped- down stern; and (3) the base of the possible superstructure does not appear to be positioned as far forward on this vessel as on the X1 Keel plates for this hull were first observed on this building X1 way on NOTE: All measurements have been made by the CIA/IAD project analyst. They should not be construed as being mensuration data compiled by the NPIC Technical Intelligence Division. TOP SECRi# proved F ReIeas ~bo3 03~ O.
