Figures KIYEV AIRCRAFT ASSEMBLY PLANT NO 413 KIYEV, USSR Kiyev Aircraft Assembly Plant No 473 is located approximately 25X15 nautical miles west of the Dnepr River in the northwest suburbs of Kiyev, USSR, at 50-27-40N 30-23-29E (Figure 1). The plant is adjacent to Kiyev/Svyatoshino Airfield which serves the plant as a test and flyaway 25X1 field. The plant is both road and rail served, with approximately 3,500 linear feet of track and approximately 16,100 linear feet of hard- surfaced road, approximately 20 feet in width, within the plant boundaries. The fence/wall surrounding the plant area appears to be con- -1- Approved For Release 2~~3 2 and 3 show the plant as it appeared in 5161A001200 10031-2 25X1 CIA/PIR-7504925X1 0 Figure 4 shows the plant i~nd includes a layout drawing of plant facilities, with item numbers keyed to Table 1. Kiyev Assembly Plant No 473 was con- structed in 1918 and possibly was utilized as an aircraft plant from its beginning. ~ as the Germans approached, the machinery of the plant was dismaritled and evacuated to Novosi- birsk, USSR. The total floorspace of the plant as of 1945 was estimated to have been slightly less than 360,000 square feet; Othe total floorspace was enlarged to an estimated 890,000 square feet and an estimated 760,000 square feet of roof cover. 2/ When observed on 0 photography of the aircraft assembly plant contained approximately 1,383,500 square feet of floor- space, and analysis of ho- tography revealed that the total floorspace had increased to approximately 2,007,500 square feet. Estimates made fro~photogra- phy ofOgave the total floorspace as approximately and the L/ but new construction projects revealed the total floorspace to be approximately (Figure 4). The fluctuation in the estimated floorspace fig- ure reflects adifference in method of estimation fig- ures are based on floorspace estimates including the several stories of the various administration 25X1 buildings; the Qfigure is based on roof cover 25X1 25X1 25X1 alone. The latest figures include an area on the northwest side of the plant which is considered to be a support area. The addition was to the south side of the work- shop/machine shop (item 1); theL new buildings were the administration building (item 2) andthe machine shop (item 5). Construction in progress on these buildings was evident on photography and (item 8) were under way by progress on an addition to the final assembly/subassembly building (item 13) was visible; this building was completed, as well as additions to the forge/ foundry (item 8) and the foundry/steamplant (item 7). At this time construction could also be seen on the POL storage area (Figure 4) in the northwest area of the plant. Completed0 were 2 warehouses (item 19), a workshop/warehouse (item 15), the probable transshipment section of the machine shop (item 5), and the repair/maintenance building (iteml1); under construction by this time were the probable assembly building (item 17), a small building to the north of the assembly building, and an addition to the warehouse complex (item 19).
