STATUS OF MAJOR CEMENT PLANTS IN
COMMUNIST CHINA DURING 1966
An analysis was made of 44 selected cement plants in Communist China.
to detect any new construction activity and to determine the operational
status of each plant for the year 1966.
Of these plants, 29 underwent no change and 10 were expanded during
1966. Descriptions of the plants that were expanded can be found on
the attached table. A thorough search of the rem??ining 5 areas failed
to reveal any evidence of cement facilities. These areas are as follows:
Cheng-yang (36 18N - 120 22E), Chin-thou (41 03N - 120 59E), Han-tan
(36 35N - 114 29E , Kai-yuan (23 42N - 103 16E), and Shih-tsui-shan
(39 21N - 106 52E).
The study revealed a total of 86 rotary kilns of which 63 were in
operation on the latest available imagery. The number of kilns at each
plant and the date on which they were seen in operation can be found on
the attached table.
Imagery of certain selected cement plants and. the plants that underwent
major revision during 1966 accompanies this report.
