This report is one of a series of reports designed to provide
continuous detailed information on selected ground force installati n
in the Soviet Union- and China by the utilization
photography.2 The installations are selected from the various military
districts and regions in the Soviet Union and China and include Category
I, II, and III Combat Units, Combat Support Units, Training Areas,
Depot and Storage Areas, Test Facilities, and Production Facilities.
Installation names are derived from the DIA Bombing Encyclopedia (May
1966).
Each installation is examined for physical changes to the facilities,
changes in the level of activity, and the identification of vehicles and
equipment.
All changes in facilities and vehicle/equipment type and/or count
are referenced to the most recent detailed report on the installation.
In cases where reports do not exist, the changes are referenced to the
most recent complete mission readout.
The sequence of installation listing within this report is by
country, type of target, military district or region, and alphabeticall'
by i qstallation name. A report of this type will follow each
Mission.
1. The review of Soviet Ground Force installations will be discontinued
indefinitely after this report. This selected target list is presently being
reviewed and revised.
This series of reports will, in the future, be published by country
(i.e. continued publication by mission of the present Chinese targets and,
eventually, a separate series of PIRs on the revised Soviet targets).
2. These reports will include all targets covered on
photography. Any analysis performed from ~hotography WL111 e so re erence
in the individual installation readouts.
