Two Microwave Lines East from Moscow Area - Noginsk-Vladimir and
Rechitsy-Murom

NPIC PROJECT
1. This report provides data on 11 microwave stations that are part of two
radio relay lines east from the Moscow area. The Noginsk-Vladimir line is com-
plete, and six relay stations have been identified on KEYHOLE photography. The
Rechitsy-Murom line was incomplete in March 1970; five stations have been identi-
fied but at least six would be required to complete the line.
2. A complete radio relay line has been identified linking Noginsk on the
outskirts of Moscow with Vladimir, USSR, 70 nautical miles to the northeast. A
second line was identified to the south and consisted of five stations between
Rechitsy and Murom. At least one more station would be required to complete that
line. Both relay lines are generally parallel to rail lines (Figure 1).
3. Six towers were sighted on the Noginsk-Vladimir line, but antennas at
only two could be identified: probable R-600 Vesna horns at Noginsk (item 1,
below) and an R-60120 antenna at Vladimir (item-6). Five of the towers on the
Rechitsy-Murom line had probable R-60120 antennas and one tower had undetermined
equipment. At no station on either line could antennas be seen with sufficient
clarity for relay azimuths to be determined.
4. These two radio relay lines were identified as a result of a search for
microwave stations at ten specified areas and along rail lines and roads east
from Moscow.

plete. Heights of towers were measured on large-scale photography, where avail-
able, and are considered 95 percent accurate within the limits stated. The
