The report is based on photographic coverag 1. This report locates and delineates the major elements of the 69th infantry Division, 23d and contains a location map, a table, and a photograph. The purpose. of this report is to combine point targets into target areas to provide more meaningful analysis and reporting. 2. The 69th Infantry Division (Figures 1 and 2) is one of three infantry divisions subordinate to the 23d Army. The 23d Army is the northernmost army deployed in the Shen-yang Military Region (MR), and the 69th Infantry Division, at Chi-chi-ha-erh, protects the northwest sector of the MR. The division consists of three infantry regiments and one artillery regiment. No AAA or tank/assault gun regiments appear to be assigned to this division. BASIC DESCRIPTION. 3. A table (inset, Figure 2) lists the units-in the 69th Infantry Division with their installation names, geographic coordinates, and BE numbers. Chi-chi-ha-erh Headquarters Infantry Division Army Barracks AL 1 4. This facility (area A) is in. the center of Chi-chi-ha-erh and is the 69th Infantry Division Headquarters. The facility also billets one of, the division's infantry regiments. The installation consists of 19 barracks (ten multistory), a headquarters building, four large administration buildings, two large messhalls, two heating plants, a hospital area, nine vehicle sheds, and numerous storage/ support buildings. Fu-la-erh-chi Army Barracks AL 1 5. This infantry regiment (area B) is 4.5 nautical miles (nm) northwest of Fu-la-erh-chi and 16.8 nm west-southwest of Chi-chi-ha-erh. The regimental area is comprised of three separate battalion areas with a_ total of 32 barracks (four U-shaped), two C-shaped administration buildings, five messhalls (one H-shaped), 20. storage/support buildings, and numerous animal pens. Infantry Regiment 6. This infantry regiment (areas C1 to C3) consists of three separate battalion-sized areas. Chi-chi-ha-erh Army Barracks South AL 5 7... This infantry battalion (area Cl) is 4 nm south of Chi-chi-ha-erh and consists of six barracks, an administration building, a messhall, a semiburied ammunition storage building, a small-arms firing range, and five small support buildings. Chi-chi-ha-erh Army Barracks NE AL 3 8. This infantry battalion (area C2) is 3 nm northeast of Chi-chi-ha-erh and consists of 11 barracks, . four administration buildings, a messhall, an auditorium, two storage bunkers, three ammunition storage bunkers, three ammunition storage buildings, an individual obstacle training course, and a large training area consisting of a rail-tracked antitank target run, a subcaliber firing range, strong points, tracked vehicle driver-training obstacles, and extensive personnel trenching. This infantry battalion (area C3) is 6 nm northeast of Chi-chi-ha-erh and consists of six barracks, an administration building, a messhall, and two storage/support buildings. Artillery Regiment 1.0. The artillery regiment (areas D1 to D3) assigned to-,the division consists of three separate battalion-sized areas. Chi-chi-ha-erh Army Barracks SE-AL 2 11. This artillery battalion (area D1) is 2 nm east of Chi-chi-ha-erh and consists of 11 barracks, an administration building, a messhall, two vehicle/equipment storage buildings, 17 storage buildings (two partly buried), two interconnected monitor-roofed maintenance buildings, an auditorium, and ten support buildings. Chi-chi-ha-erh Army Barracks East AL 4 12. This artillery battalion (area D2) is 4.5 nm east of Chi-chi-ha-erh and consists of seven barracks, two barracks/administration buildings, a messhall, eight support. buildings, a firing range with two moving-target tracks, and numerous field artillery positions and personnel trenches. Chi-chi-ha-erh Army Barracks AL 6 13. This heavy mortar battalion (area D3) is on the east-southeast edge of Chi-chi-ha-erh and consists of four barracks, an administration building, a messhall, a vehicle shed, and four support buildings. 25X1 25X1 ACIC.
