This report locates and delineates the major elements of the 118th infantry Division, 40th Army, Shen-yang Military Region (MR), China. and contains a location map, a table, and a photograph. The purpose of this report is to combine point targets into target areas to provide more meaningful analysis and reporting. 2. The 118th Infantry Division is one of three infantry divisions subordinate to the 40th Army and is on the western fringe and to the south of I-hsien. The division consists of a headquarters area, three infantry regiments, an artillery regiment, and a tank regiment. 3. Table 1 lists the units of the 118th Infantry Division with their installation names, BE numbers, COMIREX numbers, and geographic coordinates. The installations listed below are keyed to Figures 1. and 2. I-hsien Army Barracks and Headquarters AL 1 4. This infantry division headquarters (area A) is 1 nautical mile (nm) west-southwest of I-hsien and houses the division headquarters elements, an AAA battalion, a probable artillery battalion, a river-crossing company, and a tank regiment. Also included with this facility is a tank dispersal and training area, and an ammunition storage area. 5. The headquarters area consists of one E-shaped headquarters building, one C-shaped administration building, 47 barracks, nine messhalls, one auditorium, two furnace buildings one multiwinged hospital, nine vehicle sheds, two vehicle maintenance buildings, ten ammunition storage buildings, a small-arms firing range, and numerous storage/support buildings. 6. The tank regiment area consists of one C-shaped administration building, 13 barracks, one large H-shaped messhall, one auditorium, three furnace buildings, five tracked-vehicle storage buildings, six wheeled-vehicle storage buildings, two vehicle maintenance buildings, four service racks, a subcaliber firing range, and numerous storage/support buildings. 7. The tank dispersal and training area is west of the installation and consists of a very large tracked-vehicle driver training course, 11 vehicle sheds, 18 barracks/quarters, six messhalls, one probable auditorium, seven buildings under construction, one subcaliber firing range, and one tank firing loop with a moving target run. 8. The separately fence-secured ammunition storage area consists of 14 ammunition storage buildings, five support buildings, and at least one adit. I-hsien Army Barracks South AL 3 9. This artillery regiment (area B) is 6 nm south of 1-hsien and consists of one C-shaped headquarters building, one administration building, 16 barracks, five messhalls (one large multiwing), one auditorium, one furnace building, five weapons/vehicle storage buildings, eight ammunition storage buildings, numerous storage/support buildings, an associated housing area, and a small-arms firing range with ten firing pits. This infantry regiment (area C) is 5 nm south of I-hsien and consists of one H-shaped headquarters building, three C-shaped administration buildings. 26 barracks, 15 messhalls, one auditorium, two furnace buildings, nine vehicle sheds, three small vehicle maintenance buildings, numerous storage/support buildings, a small-arms firing range, an associated housing area, and a separately secured ammunition storage area with seven ammunition storage buildings south of the barracks area. Chi-li-ho Army Barracks AL 1 11. This infantry regiment (area D) is 10 nm south of I-hsien and consists of one H-shaped headquarters building, four C-shaped administration buildings, 32 barracks, 15 messhalls, one auditorium, one furnace building, nine vehicle sheds, three vehicle maintenance buildings, 1.2 small ammunition storage buildings, an associated housing area, a small arms firing range, and numerous storage/support buildings. Chi-chia-pao-tzu Army Barracks AL 1 12. This infantry regiment (area E) is 15 nm south of 1-hsien and consists of one H-shaped headquarters building, four C-shaped administration buildings, 26 barracks, 16 messhalls, one auditorium, one furnace building, ten vehicle sheds, three vehicle maintenance buildings, seven small ammunition storage buildings, a small-arms firing range, numerous storage/support buildings and an associated housing area.
