119TH INFANTRY DIVISION, 40TH ARMY,
SHEN-YANG MILITARY REGION, CHINA
1. This report locates and delineates the major elements of the 119th Infantry Division, 40th
Army, Shen-yang Military Region (MR), China.
and contains a location map, a to e, an a p otograp T e purpose o ~ this
report is to combine point targets into target areas to provide more meaningful analysis and reporting.
2. The ].19th Infantry Division is one of three infantry divisions subordinate to the 40th
Army and is northeast and southwest of the city of Shih-shan. The division consists of a headquarters
area, a tank regiment, a tank dispersal and training area, an artillery regiment, and three infantry
regiments.
3. Table 1 lists the units of the 119th Infantry Division with their installation name, BE
number, geographic coordinates, and COMIREX numbers. The installations which are described below
are keyed to .Figures 1 and 2.
Shih-shan Army Barracks and Headquarters AL 1
4. This infantry division headquarters and tank regiment (area A) is 3 nautical miles (nm)
northeast of Shih-shan and consists of a headquarters area and a tank regiment area.
5. The headquarters area consists of an E-shaped headquarters building, three administration
buildings, one multistory C-shaped adrriinistration/barracks, 11 barracks (two multistory), three

6. The tank regiment area is adjacent and southwest of the headquarters area, and consists
of a C-shaped headquarters building, two administration buildings, ten barracks, three messhalls, one
auditorium, two furnace buildings, 18 vehicle sheds, two large vehicle maintenance buildings, one
small vehicle maintenance building, numerous storage/support buildings, and a small tank subcaliber
range. A separately secured ammunition storage area with 7.3 ammunition storage buildings is
immediately north of the tank regiment area.

7. This tank dispersal and training area (area B) is 3 nm north-northeast of the division
headquarters area. The area consists of 21 barracks, one messhall, 14 vehicle sheds, a tank firing
range, a tank firing loop with a moving target track, and extensive trenching and tracked-vehicle
driver training courses.
Lu-yang Army Barracks Southwest AL 2
8. This infantry regiment (area C) is 6.3 nm north-northeast of Shih-shan and consists of
an infantry regimental area and a separately secured area, housing a river crossing company. The
infantry regimental area contains one H-shaped headquarters building, four C-shaped administration
buildings, 33 barracks, 15 messhalls, one auditorium, one furnace building, ten vehicle sheds, three
vehicle maintenance buildings, numerous storage/support buildings, and asmall-arms firing range. A
separately secured ammunition storage area is immediately south of the barracks area. The separately
secured river crossing company area contains one administration building, 14 barracks, three messhalls,
and two vehicle sheds.
Lu-yang Army Barracks Northwest AL 1
9. This infantry regiment (area D) is 9.7 nm north-northeast of Shih-shan and contains one
H-shaped headquarters building, four C-shaped administration buildings, 35 barracks, 16 messhalls,-
. one auditorium, one furnace building, 16 vehicle sheds, three vehicle support buildings, an associated
housing area, asmall-arms firing range, and a separately secured ammunition storage area.

10. This infantry regiment (area E) is 1.6 nm west of Shih-shan and consists of one H-shaped
headquarters building, four C-shaped administration buildings, 36 barracks, 16 messhalls, one
auditorium, two furnace buildings, nine vehicle sheds, three vehicle maintenance buildings, numerous
storage/support buildings, a separately secured ammunition storage area, asmall-arms firing range,
and an associated housing area south of the barracks area.

11. This artillery regiment (area F) is 1.3 nm south of Shih-shan and consists of one C-shaped
headquarters building, 15 barracks, six messhalls, one auditorium, one furnace building, 17
weapons/vehicle storage buildings, three vehicle maintenance buildings, numerous storage/support
buildings, and a separately secured ammunition storage area.
