In addition, three areas of interest have been located in China. 1. SEVASTOPOL PROBABLE SA-3 SAM SITE -- NEWLY IDENTIFIED Site under construction 4 nm. west of Sevastopol, at 44-35-15N 033-25- 50E (plotted on AMS Series N50 1, Sheet NL 36-11, 2d Ed, Apr 59). 2. BREST SA-2 SAM SITE -- NEWLY IDENTIFIED Completed site 9 nm NNE of Brest, at 52-13-40N 023-49-30E (plotted on AMS Series N501, Sheet NN 34-12, 4th Ed, Nov 57). 3. BREST SA-2 SAM SITE -- NEWLY IDENTIFIED Completed site 7.5 nm ESE of Brest, at 52-03-10N 023-53-20E (plotted on AMS Series N501, Sheet NN 34-12, 4th Ed, Nov 57). (NOTE: Coordinates revised since release of preliminary cable, dated 5 Jan 62.) 4. KAMENIKI SA-2 SAM SITE (DRU) -- NEWLY IDENTIFIED Completed site one nm SW of Kam.eniki, at 52-32-55N 023-46-20E (plotted on AMS Series N501, Sheet 34-12, 4th Ed, Nov 57). 5. LOP NOR (LAKE) AREA, CIRCULAR GROUND SCAR (CHINA) A ground scar forming a perfect circle is located 10 nm NNW of Lop Nor, at approximately 40-50N 089-40E. The circle has a diameter of approximately 13, 200 feet. Several tracks within the circle converge on an unidentified object (or objects) in the center of the circle. A probable buried cable extends NW from. the circle for approximately 100 nm. (the terminus of the scar is beyond the limits of the photograph). 8. HA-MI AREA, UNUSUAL GROUND PATTERNS (CHINA) Two nearly identical installations with unusual ground patterns are located in the vicinity of Ha-Mi, China. One installation is located 8 nm. SE of San-Tao-Ling and 30 nm. NW of Ha-Mi, at 43-05N 092-55E The second installation is located 30 nm SE of Ha-Mi at 42-30N 094-10E The second installation was previously observed on Mission Each installation consists of two adjacent patterns, each pattern resembling two Vs (one inverted) with overlapping vertices (Figures 1 and 2). The sides of the Vs are approximately 350 feet wide and 2,800 feet long. One side of one V at the installation NW of Ha-Mi extends beyond the vertex for approximately 2, 800 feet, for a total length of 5, 600 feet. Support facilities are situated to the south of the ground patterns at each installation. The installations are partially enclosed by water diversion ditches. 25X1A 25X1 D Approved For Release 2002/07/01 : 00200010042-8 25X1A TOP SECRET - Approved For ReIC) lease 2002/ Q1 PAR N u . 8 Ja.nua r v 25X1A Approved For Release 2002/07/01 r.IA-PnP7RTOS1A4AQ00200010042-8 f OP I C RE.T 25X1A Approved FoTl9easL~t&009U7/d PAR No 7Z9_r 8 January 196' Approved For Release 2002/07/01 r op SI (TRE 25X1A 25X1A 25X1A Approved For Release 2002/07/01 : CIA-RDP78TO5164A000200010042-8 Approved For Release 2002/07/01 : CIA-RDP78TO5164A000200010042-8
