REQUIREMENT NO. RR/E/R81/58: Describe radar and associated installations near Sovetskaya Gavan, USSR. Including sketches of installations, roads, and possible connection with nearby gun emplacements. 25X1 D Photography of reveals a radar installation (probable TOKEN) 11.5 nautical miles SSW of Sovetskaya Gavan Airfield on high ground overlooking the Tatarskiy Strait. The installation includes a radar site, situated on a small mesa, and an adjacent permanent support facility. A coast defense position lies one-half nautical mile away, between the radar installation and the coast. The features listed below are annotated on the attached drawing. The radar site consists of the following items: 1. Probable TOKEN radar. 2. Possible FISHNET radar. 3. Four revetted vehicle shelters, 4. The coast defense position consists of the following items: 25X1 D 25X1 D 11. Four 35' diameter gun emplacements, probably occupied. 12. Observation post (trench and possible bunker) on hillock immediately behind gun emplacements. 13. Probable open storage and support area in defilade behind battery. 14. Small building or vehicle, 15' in length, with probable antenna, located in deep defilade 200 yards behind support area.
