(S) REQUIREMENT RR/E/R127/58: Describe Moscow Copper Works "Molotov" including evidence of new construction or smelting activity. The Moscow Copper Works "Molotov", located on the Moscow/Yelets railroad on the southern outskirts of Moscow, is reported to be the third largest copper refinery in the USSR. On photography this plant is partially obscured by clouds, smoke, and haze, which precludes a de- tailed description. However, a comparison of this photography with World War II photography indicates that there were no apparent changes in the major components of the plant between 25X1 D The three largest buildings in the plant are the electrolysis building, 525 by 210 feet, the rolling mill, 525 by 110 feet; and the fire-refinery and casting building, 3C0 by 120. feet. A large scrap storage area, cover- ing approximately 800, 000 square feet, suggests that copper scrap is the principal raw material for this plant. There is no evidence of copper smelting or primary copper production. Declass Review NIMA/DoD
