Atomic Energy Installation (56-38N 84-52E) but only a small portion of the complex is visible through heavy clouds. TALENT photography of provided excellent coverage. of the entire installation. 1/ Several areas of probable new construction and activity can be noted on the new coverage and it provides some information on power lines in the West. Siberian grid. 2/ Analysis of details of those portions not cloid covered is further ham- pered by heavy haze. No buildings or structures can be discerned, just general ground patterns and areas that have been cleared of.trees . The following is a list of changes or areas of probable new construc- tion and activity within the installation. Item numbers are keyed to the photo mosaic of the installation from TALENT photography with the new areas overprinted in red. , 1. Mud Lake, dump area -,,the mud lake, a dump area for reactor and chemical separation plant wastes, has been expanded 'to the west, ap- proximately doubling its size. 2. Possible. new construction - a portion of this area was cleared of trees on the TALENT photography, but in this clearing 25X1 D had been enlarged. The presence of buildings cannot be determined. 3. Possible new construction - this area has been cleared of trees, but the presence of buildings cannot be determined. 4. Chemical Separation Plant - the chemical separation plant area has been enlarged to the west. The number or types of structures in this new portion cannot be determined. 5. Possiblet power trace - this new clearing through the woods may possibly be a rerouted power line due to the expansion of the mud lake. 6. Possible new pipeline or trench - a short section of cleared path through the woods which may represent new links in the pipeline or drain- age network. Possible new construction - this area has been cleared of trees., but the presence of buildings cannot be determined. 8. Possible new construction - this area has been cleared of trees, but the presence of buildings -cannot be determined. On TALENT photog- raphy the rail line serving the chemical separation plant ran-through this area. KEYHOLE photography of reveals some additional information on portions of the West Siberian grid which may be relevant to the Tomsk installation. A double power trace can be seen leading from Anzhero-Sudzhensk (56-05N 86-02E) eastward to' Tayga (56-03N 85-37E). At Tayga the -lines split, one leading southwest to 'Yash- kino (55-53N 85-26E) and the other leading northwest along the rail line to Tomsk. This latter branch can only be traced approximately 5 nm before it is lost in clouds. REFERENCES 25X1 PHOTOGRAPHY Mis Sion Date Pass /Camera Frames Classification MAPS or CHARTS SAC.
