SEARCH FOR ICBM LAUNCH AREAS IN THE USSR
FROM 56 TO 60 DEGREES NORTH LATITUDE
AND 20 TO 106 DEGREES EAST LONGITUDE
-This report answers a request for a more intensive search of
' available photography covering the area between 56 and 60 degrees north
~ latitude and 20 and 106 degrees east longitude to reduce further the pos-
sibility of ICBM launch areas having been overlooked in previous scans.
25X1 D As a result of this request, EYHOLE missions from Mission _
_25X1 D having passes over the area of interest were searched.
? No additional ICBM launch areas''were identified._ However, this does not
negate the possibility that other ICBM launch areas are deployed in the
o ~ geographical band searched.
The effectiveness . of the search of some areas was reduced by photo-
- graphic limitations of haze, clouds, darkness, snow cover, and poor
image quality.
A positive result of the search was the initial identification of the

Rakvere MRBM Launch Area. The detailed information ,on this area is
presented in NPIC/B-39/61. ~ The photography searched is listed,
by World Aeronautical Chart (W AC) area, under References. _*
