ILLEGIB Approved For Release 2000/05/11: CIA-RDP78TO5439A000200090004-0 Approved For Release 2000/05/11: CIA-RDP78TO5439A000200090004-0 NPIC/R-72/62 UNIDENTIFIED VESSELS AT LITSA BAY NAVAL BASE, USSR 25X1 D showed at least six unidentified vessels at piers of the Soviet naval base of Litsa Bay on the Barents Sea. The base- is located at 69-26N 32-25E, approximately 30 nautical miles northwest of Murmansk. A comparison .of vessel lengths allows the estimate thaj the vessels are of at least three distinct sizes. Identification of the nature of the vessels is not possible. The poor image quality and adverse sun angle of the photography from both passes precludes detailed interpretation-.. The terminal points of vessel configurations cannot be determined, and, therefore, measurements, including overall lengths, cannot be obtained.
