NOFORN CONTINUED CONTROL PHOTOGRAPHIC INTELLIGENCE BRIEF 5-S-566 SUBJECT : Tientsin (Tien-chino) Urban Area LOCATION : Hopeh Province, China MAP DATA: ATMP 0381-9999-100A, 0381-9999-1-25MA, 0381-9999-.2,..25MA ------------------------------------------------------------------ ------- Tientsin (39?08'N/117?11'E), an iriland water port on the Hai-Ho.(River), is an important rail and transshipment center located 60 miles southeast of Peiping. Tientsin was covered on M=9&blo good quality, large-scale aerial photography for the first time since A new large marshalling yard has been constructed north of Tientsin on the rail line to Peiping, and in the city itself there are several new rail spurs and a new--small rinarshalling yard. Several new-amall.industries, - storage facilities and housing areas are evident throughout.the city. Tientsin Airfield has undergone extensive changes. The concrete runway has been extended from 4400 to 7200 feet and new support buildings have been constructed. A few transport-type aircraft were observed at the airfield. Three cargo vessels ranging from 260 to 315 feet in length were observed in the port area.
