SVERDLOVSK HEAVY EQUIPMENT PLANT,
-011 -ArW
Arms Plant No 9 (56-52N 60-35E) is one of two arms plants (Plant
No 8 is the other) within the target complex of Sverdlovsk, USSR, that are
known major producers of heavy-caliber artillery, antitank, and naval
guns. 1/ This plant, in common with other artillery plants, has a good
potential for the development and production of guided missiles. Z/ Pho-
tography of however, shows only two components that may be
connected with missile production: the high-bay production building (Fig-
ure 2, item 8) and the secured shipping and receiving area (item.12) .
The arms plant has a total ground area of approximately 9, 500, 000
square feet and a total usable floor space of approximately 1,311,909
square feet. The major components of the plant are annotated on Figure
2 and described in the accompanying table of annotations.
