Continuing study of KEYHOLE photography of surface-to-air missile
(SAM) activity in the USSR reveals that two previously identified SA- 2
SAM Sites in the Volsk-Balakovo area should nov.- be categorized I\e?t- Type
SAM Sites.
Configuration and dimensions of both sites are similar and conform
to the characteristics of Type SAM Sites _
south- southeast of Volsk at 51- 54- 30N 47-26-30E (plotted on USATC
62). This site appeared to be
ompleted on photocraphv from
Balakovo at 52-10-40-',, 48- 05-40E (plotted on USATC Series 2-00,
Sheet 0165-21A, 2d ed Jan 60). This site was newly identified on pho-
tography from Mission nd appeared complete at
that time. No apparent change is noted on the photography from Mission
Declassification review by NIMA/DOD
