Y-EN-LIANG FABRICATION PLANT
YEN-LIANG, CHINA
The lack of visible activity, such as trucks on
the reets and steam or smoke from the saw-
mil nd power plant, indicates that construc-
tion was not active at the time of photography.
The total floor space of buildings completed
or nearing completion is 1,470,275 square feet,
and of the others that are in early or partial
stages of construction is 1,068,$00 square feet.
Major components of the plant and airfields
are identified and described on Figures 2 and 3.
Key to Annotations on Figure 2:
2. Sawmill and prefabrication yard.
3. Subassembly building, 720 by 320 feet,
consisting of two main sections: a sub-
assembly hall 720 by 85 feetand_
high, arch-roofed, with longitudinal
monitors; and 12 subassembly bays with
two parts sections, 720 by 235 feet over-
all, each bay arch-roofed, with longi-
tudinal monitor. Total floor space
230,400 square feet.
4. Unidentified building in early stage of
construction, probably 720 by 320 feet,
floor space 230,400 square feet, prob-
ably will consist of. subassembly hall
and 12 subassembly bays.
5. Possible administration building, U-
shaped, two-story, 200 by 35, 180 by
55, and 180 by 55 feet. Total floor
space 53,600 square feet.
. Yen-liapg Fabrication Plant (34-40N 109-
15E) is located adjacent to the Yer.-liang Air-
field,. 160 nautical miles west of Lo-yang, in
Shen-hsi Sheng (Shensi Province), China (Fig-
ure1).
The plant was not in operation atihe time of
and at the present
stage of construction it is difficult to determine
the exact function of each building. There does
not appear to be a final assembly hall of sufficient
size or height for the production of any type of
aircraft larger than those of fighter size; how-
ever, one could be added to the side o the fabri-
cation building under constructio (item 6,
Figure 2).
Within the plant area at the fine of photog-
raphy were roof trusses, lumber, and several
cranes around the buildings unde* construction,
and 13 rail cars loaded with sand or gravel.
