NPIC Project J-315/63 Halim Perdanakusuma Airfield, a major AURI base situated 6 nm SE of the center of Djakarta and 0.7 nm west of Pangkalan, com- prises the airfield and a SAM holding area. The airfield has an approximately 8,000 x 25X1 D 200 ft ENE/WSW probably asphalt, serviceable runway. In an erosion ditch was 25X1 D 25X1 D observed across the runway approximately 700 ft from the WSW end. Photography of - -.I/ showed the runway in a late stage of repair with construction equipment evident. Facilities include 3 large and one medium- sized hangar with concrete aprons at each end, a control tower, numerous barracks and sup- port buildings, a parallel taxiway, and 2 ap- proximately 4,400 x 190 ft NNW/SSE taxiways with a total of 24 hardstands. Aircraft observed on in- clude 4 Farmer, 2 Fresco, 2 Fagot, 8 C-130, 12 Crate, 6 CalY, one Colt, one B-25, 5 T-6, 25X1 D 25X1 D RET 25X1 C 10 T-34-A, and 2 small, single-engine, straight- wing aircraft. 25X1 D Aircraft observed on in- clude one Farmer, 2 Fresco, 2 Fagot, 6 C-130, 9 Crate, 7 Cab, one Colt, one B-25, one Hound, and 12 small, single-engine, straight-wing air- craft. The SAM holding area, situated immedi- ately south of the airfield, contains 2 radar pads (one with a Token-type radar and 2 vans and the other unoccupied), a loop road with 25X1 C 18 SA-2 missile launchers, 5 vans, 3 possi- ble vans, and 15 unidentified objects in one of 6 revetted hardstands. Four quonset huts, 4 probable storage buildings, and approximately 6 associated buildings were observed in the holding area.
