SUBJECT Industry along Mien-yang/Kuang-han Rail Line

1. This memorandum is in response to the referenced requirement which
asks for duplicate positives of the area the rail line from Mien-yang
to Kuang-han, enlargements of industrial installations from. this coverage
and a description of industrial activity.
25X1C 2. Two missions
provided coverage of the area requested. Enclosed are 23 duplicate positives
which provide complete coverage of; the area along the Mien-yang to Kuang-han
rail line.
3. Enclosure CIA/PID/IB-P-108/61+, an. annotated map, shows the correct
alignment of the rail line and the, location of the two significant industrial
areas.
1+. The first industrial area (see enclosure CIA/PID/IB-P-109/61+), anno-
tation A on the location map, is located approximately 10 nautical miles north
northeast of Kuang-han at Te-yang (31 06N - 101+ 22E)..
This industrial area is in.early to mid stages of construction. At
the time of photo coverage it appears that all construction has ceased. There
are no moving vehicles, rail cars, construction equipment or personnel in the
area. A few rail cars, several vehicles and at least three mobile cranes were
observed; however, they were all idle. Quantities of building material were
present in fabrication yards and prefabricated roof trusses and columns were
present at various building sites.
Thirteen large to medium sized buildings are complete and the others
are in various stages of construction; one has only the roof to be finished,
others the columns are in place and in. still others only excavations have been
started. From the pattern of the read net this area will ultimately contain
more buildings than currently are finished or are under construction-.

5. The second industrial area (see enclosure CIA/PID/IB-P-11O/64),, anno-
tation B on the location map, is located on the northern edge of Mien-yang at
approximately 31 28N - lO4 45E. This area contains four light fabrication
industries, all in the final stages of construction.
