This is the first in a series of reports, prepared In
response to CIA requirement C-RRR3-X0,733, presenting lo-
cational and other pertinent Information on all Soviet-type
surface-to-air missile (SAM) installations whether inorout
of the Sino-Soviet Bloc. Installations included are SAM
launch sites (SA-l, SA-2, SA-3, and SA-O), antimissile-
missile activities, SAM support facilities, SAM It & 1) and
training facilities, and unidentified installations, possibly
SAM-related. The Information will toe presented by World
Aeronautical Chart (WAC), and within eachW CbySAM de-
fense area, as determined from photography nd collateral
sources. When the defense function ofanInstallation cannot
be determined, this will be so indicated. Where no Instal-
lations have been identified in a WAC area, that WACill
be omitted, I1

INTRODUCTION
This report presents information on all Soviet-type
SAM installations located in the areas covered by WACs
50, 51, 75, 91, and 92 and identified on photography, The
cutoff date for this Information is
Figure I shows all the WAC areas, except Cuba, which will
be covered in this series; those in red are covered In this
report. Diagrams of the configurations ofthecommon types
of SAM installations are presented in Figure2. Information
for each WAC is shown in a table (Fables 1-5), which gives
detailed data and a map (Figures 3-7), which indicates the
location and type of each SAM installation.
Explanations of the columnar headings used in the
tables are as follows:
