ILLEGIB Approved For Release 2001/03/30 : CIA-RDP78TO5439A000300210079-3 Approved For Release 2001/03/30 : CIA-RDP78TO5439A000300210079-3 TCS 1431/64+-KH WEB 110/64 3 March 1964 Copy / MEMORANDUM FOR: Chief, Ballistic Missiles and Space Division, OSI 25X1 A AT=ET TTION: THROUGH: Chief, Requirements Branch, Reconnaissance Group, CGS FROM: Chief, CIA/PD) (NPIC) SUBJECT: Mensural Data on Possible Impact Scars, Kamchatka, USSR REFERENCES : a) Requirement C- SI- 4- 81, 024 (b) CIA/PI?) Project C 212-64 1. This memorandum is in response to your requirement dated 28 January 1964 requesting a metrical analysis be performed on the possible impact scars on Kamchatka Peninsula. The diameters of the three prominent scars, the geographic location, and the angular relationship between scaxs is provided herein. These dimensions were provided by CIA/TID (NPIC). 2. The geographic coordinates of the approximate center of t2Se cluster of the three prominent scars (A - C) is 57-22N 161-42E. These coordinates were derived by plotting the photo image to the photo image of the map. (AMS Map Sheet No. 57-9, Series DESPA--1, 1:250,000.) These coordinates are plotted accurate within 15-30 seconds. The precise geographic coordinates of any single scar could not be determined at this time due to an error in the Final 25X1 D Ephemeris for Mission - The F nal Ephemeris for Mission is currently 25X1 D in computation. However, it is doubtful that accuracy greater t an that de- scribed above could be accomplished from the ephemerical data. 3. The scars have been arbitrarily annotated A through F. The diameters of the three prominent scars (A - C) measure 100 feet, 95 feet, and 105 feet, respectively. Scar A (Figure 1) has been designated as the reference point for angular relationships. The distances between scars are indicated in the table, Figure 2. 4.
